AllCare Family Medicine and Urgent Care of Bethesda, Maryland implements antibody SARS-Cov-2 AB test for all patients, which requires consultation with our doctor aimed at confirming that the patient has no COVID-related symptoms, before getting antibody-tested.
What is SARS-Cov-2 AB Test?
Unlike the COVID-19 test, the Coronavirus antibody test detects the presence of antibodies to coronavirus in the patient’s blood.
Our immune system produces special protein molecules (antibodies) within 10 days after onset of the infection; however, after recovery, they remain positive for quite a long time.
The antibody test is carried out via in-office blood draw and is provided only in case the patient does not have any signs or symptoms of active infection after the suggested recovery.
The antibody test results usually come back in one-three business days; we email you the results interpreted by the doctor. Please, note that the come-back period may vary since the technology is newly developed.
